Yarraloch Stephanies Dream Chardonnay 2022
This is a slightly finer expression of Chardonnay, and reflects the slightly higher proportion of Mendoza clone, bringing that intense acidity into play. It was made with whole bunch pressing, barrel fermentation, and full solids, with time in oak for about 13 months on lees. That's all generated tremendous concentration and layered complexity, while the fine focus extends through to a very long finish. The oak influence sits harmoniously and is perfectly balanced. I love that slightly chalky acid, gunsmoke character that introduces yet another level of complexity, especially on the palate. First-rate wine. Drink to: 2025-2033; Price: $80.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan
Miles From Nowhere Origin Of Now Chardonnay 2023
This super premium wine was introduced a few years ago and it hasn’t looked back since. I think this is the best of them yet, which is not surprising given the quality of the 2023 vintage. It’s 50% Gingin clone with the remainder clones 95.96 and 76 from their own roots. Pressed straight to oak with full solids and wild fermentation designed to generate the complexity and richness that is establishing a style after just a few vintages. It got 10 months in oak of which 1/3 was new. So it’s not overdone with oak. IT has an engaging minerally savoury character on the nose. The palate is creamy and rich, but the alternative clones bring a fine linear feel. Waxy honeycomb and brioche add complex notes. The finish is long and powerfully sustained. Drink to: 2025-2037; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan
Margan Timbervines Chardonnay 2022
This wine is sourced from a 1ha block planted on the red volcanic soil of Margan's Timbervines Vineyard planted in 1972. Its fragrant bouquet heralds a palate of high-quality chardonnay, white peach and grapefruit running throughout a classy wine. Drink to: 2030; Date Tasted: January 2023; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $80.00; Rating: 96 Points; James Halliday; Wine Companion
Stonehaven Reserve Padthaway Chardonnay 2025
Rich yet refined and alluring, the bouquet shows golden peach, rockmelon, brioche, and stylish oak aromas, followed by a concentrated palate exhibiting outstanding weight and depth. Wonderfully complemented by a creamy texture and fine acidity, making it harmonious and flowing to a long, seamless finish. At its best: now to 2035. Date: Sep 2025; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; Wine Orbit
