In 1874 Orlando was the name of a vineyard that was established in Rowland Flat, Barossa Valley by the legendary Gramp family. Gustav Gramp was gifted the vineyard by his father as a wedding present when he married Johanna Koch.

If you should make the trek up to the Steingarten vineyard, and you should, you'll no doubt wonder at how skinny the vines are, 1962 plantings on lean ridgeline soils. Jeez the wines are lovely with a few years under their belt. All Bickford's lime cordial and pressed citrus blossom and wildflower notes, toasting brioche with lemon butter, crushed stone, tarte Tatin, crème fraîche and drying fields. Still focused and sapid and blowing your mind long after the wine has been ingested. Just wonderful. A museum release.
