The Burge Family Winemaking tradition first started in the late 1860s with John Burge, who migrated to South Australia from Wiltshire (UK) in 1855. By the turn of the century, production ceased and all equipment was sold by John’s son Meshach, and it wasn’t until 1928 that John’s grandson ‘Percival’ recommenced winemaking.
Riesling in a good season is one of the joys of summer drinking for me, and this one is going to be right on my drinking list this year. It's a super wine, brimming with citrusy lemon and sherbet notes on the nose, and then a palate that has a slightly minerally, spicy character, augmenting the more typical bath salts and limey lemon combination. It's clean, it's crisp, and it's so refreshing. And it's going into my fridge. Price: $35.00; Rating: 94 Points: Ray Jordan
