Medhurst Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2025
Mostly MV6. 5% whole bunches. 20% new oak. A very bright crimson. Aromatic with a bouquet of red fruits, poached rhubarb, rose petal and spice. Fleshy and energetic on the palate with fine, silky tannins. Medhurst's calling card is in great form. A delicious wine to drink now through the next 5-7 years. Date: Jan 2026; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $38.00; Drink by: 2032; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
Thousand Candles Gathering Field Pinot Noir 2022
All MV6 clone and 10–30% whole bunches. A light, bright ruby red. Another delicate yet well-defined pinot from Stuart and the team at Thousand Candles. Aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries and fresh rose petals Light to medium bodied and gently sinewy on the palate, finishing with silky, persistent tannins. This is delicious now but will be even better 2–3 years from now. Just as good and just as well priced as the very good '21. Drink to: 2028; Price: $36.00; Date Tasted: Sept 2024; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
Carlei Green Stephen Thomson Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2019
Sweetly ripe and immensely complex with dark cherry, thyme, smoky bacon, warm spice and toasted almond notes, it’s concentrated and beautifully layered in the mouth delivering terrific power as well as refinement and silky flow. Gorgeously polished and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2027.Date Tasted: Nov 2021; Price: $59.00; Rating: 95 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
Pettavel Single Vineyard Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024
This one is right up there with the best of them. Typically, a brilliant, red, crimson-y colour leads you into an aroma mix of dominant cherry and a spicy mulberry, slightly raspberry influence. On the palate, there‘s a plush, velvety feel, but there‘s also tannin in here, balanced with some nice oak treatment, so it has the structure to support all that wonderful fruit. It‘s a wine that‘s just in its youth now, but it has the structure and poise to handle further cellaring. An excellent wine. Drink to: 2025-2035; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $35.00; Rating: 94 Points; Ray Jordan
