Ordinarily, we would be fortunate enough to feature one or two 97 Point rated Cabernets each year, especially given that on almost all occasions, said wines are made in miniscule amounts, almost always a few hundred cases at best and almost always they aren't cheap. What we have here is the StarDozen: 97 Point Cabernet Collection, featuring 3 bottles each from 4 renowned producers. All wines rating 97 Points from Australia's leading wine critics and all significantly below their retail price. This is a rare and extremely limited opportunity.

The StarDozen consists of the following:

3 bottles        Credaro 1000 Crowns Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
3 bottles        Stonehaven Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
3 bottles        Petaluma ANOVA Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
3 bottles        Wynns Coonawarra Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Credaro 1000 Crowns Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
This has to be the finest cabernet yet under this label. There's power, structure, and poise - a compelling combination. On the nose, lovely floral perfumes, with bright red and black fruit and a little bay leaf lift. There's vibrancy, and it's alive with energy on the palate. Finely integrated and poised, with concentration and an effortless ease that extends to a long finish. Make sure you decant it, allow it to open up, and then you've got something worth lingering over. Drink to: 2025-2045; Alcohol: 14.0%; Price: $100.00; Rating: 97 Points; Ray Jordan

Stonehaven Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Sourced from adjacent rows of 40-year-old vines hand-pruned to control the yield to 5t/ha. Cold maceration and pressed direct to oak for 18 months in French hogsheads. This is a seriously good cabernet from an excellent vintage. Its length is exceptional, as is its structure and slinky tannins, part fruit, part oak. Drink to: 2045; Price: $60.00; Date Published: August 2023; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 97 Points; James Halliday; The Weekend Australian

Wynns Coonawarra Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Deep crimson. Beautiful cigar box, blackcurrant aromas with underlying roasted chestnut notes. Classically structured with plentiful cassis, black cherry, cedar flavours, fine grained savoury tannins, attractive quartz-like acidity and well-integrated roasted chestnut/ vanilla oak. Finishes chalky firm and minerally. Archetypal Coonawarra Claret with superb vibrancy, and cabernet bloodlines. Deserves a year or more cellaring time to allow all the elements to unfold. Drink: 2024–2038; Alcohol: 13.4%; Rating: 97 Points; Andrew Caillard MW; The Vintage Journal

Petaluma ANOVA Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Comes from an exceptional season in Coonawarra, a meticulous approach has been taken here with handpicking and selective harvesting on low-yielding vineyards before individual barrels were selected for the final blend. The colour is deep and brilliant and the nose displays a typical blackcurrant nuance with that trace of Coonawarra leafiness. Beautifully integrated chalky fine tannins and perfectly tuned oak play their role in harmonising with the dense yet elegant fruit. A stylish wine with plenty of cellaring time ahead. Although it is mighty good now. Drink by: 2025-2049; Price: $150.00; Rating: 97 Points; Ray Jordan
