Sergio Carlei, like most Italians, begun his love for wine making in the family garage as a hobby, inspired from watching his "Nonno" growing up, while running his successful chiropractic clinic in Beaumaris.
Stephen Thomson was a force behind Carlei Wines in the early days. Never missing a day as a cellar-hand, he made things happen when others couldn't be bothered. Nothing was ever too hard; he was a true blue.
Sweetly ripe and immensely complex with dark cherry, thyme, smoky bacon, warm spice and toasted almond notes, it’s concentrated and beautifully layered in the mouth delivering terrific power as well as refinement and silky flow. Gorgeously polished and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2027.Date Tasted: Nov 2021; Price: $59.00; Rating: 95 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
