Mitolo Savitar Shiraz 2021
Highly polished release. Selected parcels from its source vineyard in the Vale’s south-western Whites Valley district get the royal treatment, a large proportion of new French oak in play in the winery offering its typical influence in the finished wine with finessed tannins, a minerally char and toast, yet still room for its rich dark plum fruit and acidity to drive intense drinking pleasures long into the future. Exciting stuff. Price: $105.00; Rating: 96 Points; Tony Love

Scotchmans Hill Cornelius Spray Farm Vineyard Syrah 2016
25% whole bunches, the balance destemmed on top, 5 days cold soak, wild fermentation 10 days, plunged daily, matured for 18 months in French oak (50% new). Deep, bright colour; sultry purple and black fruits coat the intense, long medium+-bodied palate, dispatching oak to all corners of the field. Drink to: 2036; Price: $60.00; Date Tasted: Jan 2019; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

Miles From Nowhere Origin Of Now Shiraz 2022
A cleverly made shiraz that reveals what this variety can deliver in Margaret River. It’s co-fermented with a small amount of spicy viognier and then gets a little carbonic maceration, both of which contribute to its perfumed aromas and bright palate. It then gets 17 months in a mix of French and American oak. Velvety smooth palate, yet there is power here driving a sustained finish. An effortless wine of class. Drink to: 2024-2036; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan

Tyrrells Old Hut Hunter Valley Shiraz 2018
Good depth of purple/red colour. Aromas of dark fruits, dried spices, subtle earthy-graphite notes among its savoury overtones, the palate medium-bodied and soft-textured, very refined, focused and elegant with super-fine tannins and faultless line and length. Seamless. A delightful wine. (Vines planted in 2003 with cuttings from the 4 Acres vineyard which is beside it). Drink: 2020 to 2043; Price: $45.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
