Saturated colour, inky; big, rich, dense, very concentrated wine, lashings of plush, supple tannins. Plummy, big but balanced. Wow, this is impressive. Rating: 97 Points & Trophy Best Shiraz; Global Fine Wine Challenge
Saturated colour, inky; plummy, subtly spicy aromas; big, rich, dense, very concentrated wine, with lashings of plush, supple tannins. Spot-on ripeness. Big but balanced. Wow, this is impressive. Trophy, Best Shiraz/Syrah, 2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge. Date Tasted: November 2023; Drink: 2024 to 2040; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $55.00; Rating: 96 Points; Top Rank; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
Famous name and famously cellar-worthy, if you can keep your hands off it long enough. Shiraz sourced from several growers across the region and matured in French and American oak for 18 months. There is a distinct framework of fine, ripe sandy tannin from which the pure dark berry and plum fruit hang dusted with spice and violets, dark chocolate and earthen tones appearing last. It looks great now but will look as good or better in a decade. Either way, it's a classic style from a strong vintage. Drink to: 2035; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $58.00; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
