Since 1952, the Schild family have lived and worked in the Southern Barossa, growing grapes and creating wines with authenticity and passion, from real Barossa earth, in a place they call home. Moorooroo Limited Release Shiraz is a wine that represents everything the family hold dear. The wine has historical significance, it is a variety the Barossa is best known for and it comes from a vineyard cared for by generations of Barossa families. History, wine and family are the backbone of the Schild brand and that is what has kept our customers so loyal to the Schild Estate brand.

40% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, 30% Mataro

Sweetly fruited and instantly appealing with dark plum, wild strawberry, clove, game, and toasted almond notes, it's juicy and supple in the mouth, offering bright fruit intensity with savoury nuances. Splendidly framed by finely infused tannins, finishing persistent and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2032. Date: Jan 2025; Rating: 94 Points; Wine Orbit

A very impressive example of the famous Rhone/Barossa blend (I think that they have been doing it for long enough in the Barossa that we can call it that, along with the Rhone examples), and one which is very good value. From a range of vineyards, which were originally planted between 1916 and 1928, it is close to an even split of the three varieties, but Grenache does edge ahead. Crimson purple in colour, the nose exhibits notes of spices, raspberries, cold tea, strawberries and dried herbs. Lovely cherry notes come out to play on the palate. There is an appealingly supple and seductive texture, silky tannins, fine acidity and very good length. Lots to like here and it is very good value. Date: Feb 2025; Price: $30.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett
