The dictionary definition of ‘Riposte’ (pronounced rip-posst) is comeback, reply, retort, or in the context of the sport of fencing a quick counter stroke. After over a decade of confusion about his name ‘Riposte’ was chosen as an appropriate name for a ‘comeback label’ by Tim Knappstein.

The Sword Name - ‘The Scimitar’ is a wide, curved blade Sabre, derived from the central Asian Turko-Mongolian Sabre of the 13th Century. Commonly used across the Islamic world the Scimitar was a slashing rather than a stabbing blade. The grapes for this wine were grown on the vineyard of Darry and Chris Honey. Located at Watervale, the vineyard is situated on the famed strip of Terra Rossa soil to the east of the town.

This comes from a vineyard east of the Watervale township, where lime fruit, juice and zest are the calling cards of the variety, here too more aromatic interest arises in the form of a lime curd and subtle digestive biscuit note. In the drinking it's all about the citrus, a first wave of tang then a softer tapering of acidity to the exit. The 2025 hails from a single vineyard in the Clare Valley, which experienced an extraordinarily dry 2025 season. On the nose, the wine leads with white flowers and lime zest, some talc and wet chalk. In the mouth, the wine is fleshy, pretty and precise. The texture through the finish is chalky, verging on gently sandy, and it offsets the fruit nicely, which is attractive.
