Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a very recent wine estate since created at the beginning of the year 2000 by Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, agricultural engineer and oenologist, with the aim of taking over the running of those few parcels of vineyards remaining in the hands of the family. But it is in fact a very old estate as it has over 200 years of family tradition at the service of the vines and wines of Burgundy in general and Vosne-Romanée in particular.

Mid crimson, glycerol legs in the glass, while the bouquet demonstrates an excellent depth of fruit once it is coaxed out. The fruit is attractive at the front of the palate, with plenty of oak, and not quite so much fruit concentration at the back. Here too there is enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit so be sure to give this some air if you're going to crack a bottle young. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the sleek and lightly stony middleweight flavors that conclude in a dusty, youthfully austere and firm finale that should enable this to age gracefully over a decade plus of cellaring. As is the case with the Aux Cras, this should reasonably clean-up with time and bottle and once again my rating offers the benefit of the doubt.
