Devitt & Moore Wines honours and celebrates the oldest composite clipper ship, the City of Adelaide. Built in 1864 in the UK, by shipping company, Devitt & Moore, the City of Adelaide undertook 23 return voyages between London and Adelaide. The City of Adelaide ship played a pivotal part of Australian immigration, with over 250,000 Australians being able to trace their ancestry to the voyages undertaken. 

Always good to see wines which have been allowed to mature in the wineries' cellars before release. This one is under Diam. The colour is opaque maroon/black. On the nose, an array of aromas including blackberries, aniseed, leather, cassis, cloves, soy, beefstock and chinotto. The texture is supple and seductive, there is good energy and the wine is still fresh. Excellent balance and length, the wine finishes with silky tannins. Rich and complex, showing blackcurrant, dried herb, cured meat, fennel, and cedar characters. The wonderfully weighted palate offers excellent depth and presence, splendidly supported by silky texture and beautifully infused tannins, finishing long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2035.
