An Approach To Relaxation is a joint project between Master Sommelier Richard Betts and Carla Rza Betts. Sucette is a 100% Grenache from an 80-85-year old, sand-grown, own-rooted vineyard that is beyond organic - it's feral. The vineyard is located in the Vine Vale, the coolest region of the Barossa Valley, situated at the foot of the Eden Valley in South Australia.
This wine mines a beautiful grenache zone. It's red berried and floral but it also dips into black and red licorice, and comes laden with mineral and spice notes. It's complex yum. Tannin here is a particular feature; fine-grained, assertive and harmonious at once. This wine – which now includes an array of secondary characters – is at its drinking peak, in the best of ways. 93 points.
