Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine farm in the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. The Yangarra philosophy centres around producing wines solely from its single-vineyard estate and the property is devoted to the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone. Yangarra's combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in these moderate maritime environments.

Blanc is the result of years of research and exploration into the best white varieties hailing from the ancient north-west Mediterranean. Native to the southern Rhône, these Châteauneuf varieties have been traditionally blended for many years, encouraging our pursuit of a progressive white blend from our Estate. With careful vineyard management and a light handed approach in the winery, the Blanc showcases the vibrant, fresh and crunchy style these varieties provide in unison.

80% Grenache Blanc, 6% Roussanne, 6% Bourboulenc, 5% Clairette, 2% Grenache Gris, 1% Piquepoul Blanc

A blend of grenache blanc, roussanne, bourboulenc, clairette, grenache gris and piquepoul blanc. The grenache blanc was pressed to tank, the other varieties basket-pressed, matured in used French barrels on lees for six months. The palate is powerful with fresh acidity. Pear and apple, almond meal, a slight aniseed top note, a discreet amount of white pepper and spice. It’s a little bit juicy, with white fleshed fruit, some bright tangerine acidity and flavour, plenty of chalky texture, and a dusty and subtly nutty/briny/lemon peel finish of excellent length. Rich nose but wonderfully tangy on the palate – seriously refreshing. A gastronomic wine that gives the impression of being higher alcohol yet is far from skinny. Some honeysuckle notes and very intriguing. Long and really interesting. More appetising than many a true French white Châteauneuf. Rating: 17.0/20.0 Points; Jancis Robinson
