Moppity Vineyards is located in Young, within the Hilltops wine region. The 170 acre vineyard sits at the highest elevation in the Hilltops and the 37 year old vines are among the oldest in the region. Since acquiring the vineyard in 2004, Jason and Alecia Brown have focused on producing medium-bodied wines that reflect the unique conditions of this high-altitude, cool-climate region.

Sourced from mature Hilltops Grenache plantings, the wine captures the variety in a relaxed, fruit-forward register. Hilltops brings natural ripeness and perfume, but still enough elevation and freshness to keep the style vibrant rather than broad or confectionary.

This is delightfully fruited and fragrant on the nose with sweet strawberry, watermelon, and crisp apple notes, leading to a lively palate offering juicy fruit flavours with well-pitched acidity, making it fabulously appealing. At its best: now to 2027. Rating: 93 Points; Wine Orbit

This delicious rosé was made with Hilltops grenache grapes. It's pale, dry, zippy and refreshing, for starters, but it also has good flavour and a smidgen of extra character too. It's pretty much exactly how you'd like a grenache to present. Red cherry, raspberry, earth, sweet spice and apple characters come inflected with brine and aromatic herbs. It's lovely. It drinks a treat. Date Tasted: June 2026; Alcohol: 12.0%; Price: $35.00; Rating: 92 Points; Campbell Mattinson
