Moppity Vineyards is located in Young, within the Hilltops wine region. The 170 acre vineyard sits at the highest elevation in the Hilltops and the 37 year old vines are among the oldest in the region. Since acquiring the vineyard in 2004, Jason and Alecia Brown have focused on producing medium-bodied wines that reflect the unique conditions of this high-altitude, cool-climate region.

Emprise is drawn exclusively from Block 20 at the Coppabella vineyard, a single-site expression of Tumbarumba Chardonnay. In this elevated setting, the fruit consistently carries natural tension and clarity, but in 2024 the block has also delivered more breadth and quiet power, making it especially well suited to a more layered barrel- aged style.

A polished Chardonnay with texture, precision and balance. Pale straw with green highlights. Aromas of white peach, grapefruit and flint are complemented by notes of almond and subtle oak. The palate is medium-bodied and finely textured, delivering fruit of white peach and grapefruit supported by crisp acidity. This is superbly complex and inviting on the nose with ripe peach, lemon peel, vanilla, oatmeal, and fine oak aromas, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate that's creamy yet firmly structured by bright acidity. Moppity’s Emprise Chardonnay is grown exclusively on the elevated Block 20 of the famed Coppabella vineyard in Tumbarumba. Somebody please put a gold medal around this wine's neck. It's a gold star wine if ever there was one. It's rich, it's neat, it's lengthy and it's powerful, and as a drink it's delicious and more. It tastes of grilled peach, cedar, woodsmoke, nougat and grapefruit, and from start to finish it lays down quality as if though there's no tomorrow. This is a wonderful chardonnay.
