Cinematographer Michael Seresin’s desire to create high quality wine in the most natural way possible led to the rise of Seresin Estate in the early 1990s – a wine estate that has ever since followed the principals of biodynamic and organic farming and winemaking. Allowing the wines a little extra time, not only adds savouriness, mouth-watering textures and flavours, but also shows the unique sense of place the wines come from.
A tantalising, complete expression of Chardonnay that brings together both savoury structure, elegance and depth of concentration. Considered picking and use of oak has created a wine that leans towards the more complex, savoury styles of Chardonnay. Lifted mealy, flinty notes on the nose, develop into a smoky complex flavours on the palate. The wine remains poised with a slaty, mineral acidity on the finish and is bone dry.
A lovely bouquet of barrel spices and yellow stone fruits, grapefruit peel and apple. Dry on the palate with plenty of weight and freshness, lees spice and tension, apple and citrus fruit flavours, vanilla and roasted nut. Fine tannins from the barrel and fruit are accentuated by the lees spice and complexities this also brings to the wine. Ultimately an expression that suits stand alone drinking or alongside barbequed crayfish tails with tartare sauce, or a simple pasta with parmesan cheese included.
