Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a very recent wine estate since created at the beginning of the year 2000 by Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, agricultural engineer and oenologist, with the aim of taking over the running of those few parcels of vineyards remaining in the hands of the family. But it is in fact a very old estate as it has over 200 years of family tradition at the service of the vines and wines of Burgundy in general and Vosne-Romanée in particular.

Glowing purple. Very attractive perfume, even, and with some density. Beautifully pure on the cusp between strawberry and raspberry, effortless fruit across the palate, still a few tannins waiting to integrate and a fine finish with the oak interwoven attractively. A restrained if not grumpy nose features plenty of spice nuances that add breadth to the layered red currant, cherry and floral scents. There is more volume and evident power to the more mineral-driven flavors that possess better density on the firm, serious and built-to-age finale. As is typically the case with Aux Réas, this is borderline robust but not rustic and a wine that should amply repay extended keeping. Date: Jan 2024; Drink: 2030+; Rating: 90-93 Points; Allen Meadow; Burghound

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Village is now augmented by fruit from Rivière and Bossière lieux-dits this year, totaling around 0.9 hectares. It offers red and black fruit on the nose with wilted violet and a touch of lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety texture disguising the commendable structure for a Village Cru. Fine-boned on the finish, this should age well in bottle. Date: Oct 2023; Drink: 2026 -2038; Rating: 90-92 Points;  Neal Maritn; Vinous
