With its first vintage in 2012, the 'European' style from the Grosset Rockwood Vineyard with its hard red rock and poor orange/red loam soil. This delivers impressive depth of flavour in the mid-palate, pronounced lime and lemony flavours that are intense and deep, finishing almost bone-dry with purity and finesse; same variety, yet a quite different and fascinating alternative to Grosset Polish Hill. Produced from Riesling grown biodynamically at the Grosset Rockwood Vineyard.

Light, bright yellow hue with a lovely fresh nose of lemon juice and blossom, a hint of creamy lees and an echo of mandarin. Delicious flavours that tread the same path, beautifully balanced and intense with great harmony and length, not a hair out of place, and already tasting delightful. It's not austere: there's a smidgin of sweetness—almost subliminal—that adds an impression almost of richness and brings it all into terrific balance. This is a lovely, pure expression of a slightly off-dry Riesling from Watervale. The nose has a nice combination of cut lemony edginess, but then there is a slightly pithy orange-like character, providing an engaging complexity. I love the zingy, crisp, minerally palate, which is so well-balanced with that fine, persistent acidity, keeping it on the straight and narrow with a bracing degree of tension. Simply a lovely drink.
