Just over 20 years ago, Claymore Wines was humbly established with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling from a single vineyard in Penwortham. Since then, the estate has grown to include additional varietals and 44 hectares across three additional vineyards in Watervale.

This is a one-off, blink-and-you-will-miss-it, opportunity on a limited production small batch release with the expected bling that befits a super premium Clare Riesling. This renowned Riesling producer has a few tiers in their arsenal but this wine was crafted to highlight the very best parcels from the outstanding 2024 vintage, blending fruit from the Gaelic Cemetery region in White Hut with that of the 80 year old Shankly Vineyard. The resultant wine speaks for itself:

Old vine (80+ years), dry grown estate vines located in Watervale, the 2025 Superstition Riesling is crafted from the very first Riesling pick of the vintage. Coming in prior to the heat of mid harvest, it is all about racy, lip smacking acidity, balanced by the sheer purity of fruit. Linger over this one to savour sherbet, lime and minerality - easily one to cellar if you happen to like it like that!

A good deal of intensity and concentration of flavour here. Carries the lemon-lime Splice characters well, shows off some pulpy grapefruit notes, hazy green apple juice, a touch of pickled ginger and some lifted alpine herb and citrus blossom characters. Well balanced, energetic and drives with intent and length. Another superb Clare Valley Riesling from the Watervale sub-region, the fruit comes from a dry grown vineyard with vines in excess of eighty years of age. 100% free run juice. This is exceptional value. The wine offers a gorgeous nose, wonderfully aromatic, with lime blossoms, spices, white jasmine, river stones, florals and a line of minerally support.
