Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons.
Grant Burge's flagship shiraz offering has built a loyal base of fans and has an enviable pedigree of cellaring like a champion. It's no wallflower. It's full bodied, and big and bold, with a dark concentration of fruit, a proliferation of spicy oak and hefty tannins and a real sense of horsepower ticking away under the hood. The 2019 model perhaps has a little more tooth to the tannins, but it's all you expect from a wine of its reputation. Powerful and built in the traditional style.
