Chris Coulter the owner and winemaker describes his approach as minimalist intervention whilst ensuring cleanliness and purity in the wines. He sources fruit from across the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Riverland. Whilst he works with the classic varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir he also plays with some Italian varietals including Sangiovese and Barbera and this year has experimented with a parcel of Syrah from the Eden Valley. the Iberian variety Tempranillo. The project began in 2015 and already has received some great reviews and we think these offer remarkable value.

Purple-people-eater-crimson. Glossy and inviting. Harvested late, crushed with zero adds, fermented pretty warm and basket-pressed to tank. No oak. Zero adds at bottling, nor fined/filtered. Lilac. Boysenberry, iodine and tapenade. A sash of reductive tension segueing to firm, granular tannins soused with coffee grind and mocha. This rich wine demands food. But as with everything else in the range, its fealty to place and the consummate craftsman behind it, is undeniable. Drink to: 2025; Price: $28.00; Date Tasted: Mar 2020; Rating: 92 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
