O'Leary Walker Wines was established in 2000 by winemakers David O'Leary and Nick Walker. With over twenty five years experience and established reputations making premium wine with the big companies, these two long time friends decided to take control of their own destiny and craft small batches of wine from some of the best vineyard sites in South Australia. With a great leap of faith they are now doing exactly what they set out to.
This Shiraz is made using fruit from two of our vineyards - both the cooler region of Polish Hill River and the warmer Armagh, north of Clare.
A difficult vintage to be sure but this sub-regional blend doesn’t miss a beat. The power and concentration we associate with Polish Hill River and Armagh Shiraz are well in place and, so too, the beauty. A harmony is noted whether it is in a perfume of black fruits, cassis, dark plum, toasted spice and liquorice, or on the fine-ness of expression as the wine winds its way across the tongue. Oak is a background feature, a seamless kind of quality, and tannins are generous but fine. A lovely wine. Date: Dec 2025; Drink by: 2025-2035; Rating: 95 Points; Jeni Port
