Mystery Premium Margaret River Chardonnay 2023
This super premium wine was introduced a few years ago and it hasn’t looked back since. I think this is the best of them yet, which is not surprising given the quality of the 2023 vintage. It’s 50% Gingin clone with the remainder clones 95.96 and 76 from their own roots. Pressed straight to oak with full solids and wild fermentation designed to generate the complexity and richness that is establishing a style after just a few vintages. It got 10 months in oak of which 1/3 was new. So it’s not overdone with oak. IT has an engaging minerally savoury character on the nose. The palate is creamy and rich, but the alternative clones bring a fine linear feel. Waxy honeycomb and brioche add complex notes. The finish is long and powerfully sustained. Drink to: 2025-2037; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan
Mystery Premium McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018
Gloriously rich and complex, showing blackberry, dark cocoa, cedary oak and mixed spice aromas, it's sumptuous and powerful with stunning fruit intensity backed by velvety texture and supple tannins. Mouthfilling and delectably appealing. Drink: Now to 2035; Price: $85.00; Date Tasted: October 2021; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 96 Points; Wine Orbit
Mystery Super Premium WA Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Hand-picked and sorted, destemmed, fermented in header-board vats or small open stainless steel vats, part pressed at dryness (fruit vibrancy), part given extended maceration (structure). High quality Margaret River cabernet made for a long life with decades of change to texture and structure. Date: Feb 2020; Alcohol: 14%; Price: $150.00; Drink by: 2042; Rating: 97 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
Mystery Super Premium Barossa Valley Shiraz 2023
Powerful and captivating, the wine exhibits black and blueberry, anise, fennel, cedar, and dark chocolate notes on the nose. The concentrated palate offers outstanding weight and multi-layered mouthfeel, superbly enhanced by velvety texture and plush tannins. Immensely appealing with magnificent complexity. At its best: 2026 to 2043. Rating: 97 Points; Wine Orbit
Mystery Super Premium Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
This is impressively composed and styled, showing cassis, cigar, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose. The palate offers terrific weight and depth, combined with refined texture and chalky tannins, making it both sturdy and velvety. Wonderfully flavoursome and hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2033. Date: Jan 2024; Rating: 96; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
Mystery Super Premium Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022
This is a super concentrated and powerful expression of Barossa shiraz. It comes from the three best parcels on the estate and it delivers a wine of opulence and great fruit concentration, crammed with blackberry and dark plum, a liberal sprinkling of spices and some dried herbs and just a light touch of pepper. It's a concentrated wine but there's an effortless ease on the palate as it pushes through to a sustained finish. Drink to: 2025-2043; Price: $120.00; Rating: 95 Points; Ray Jordan
