Munari Wines is a family owned vineyard located 11kms north of Heathcote at the base of the Mt Ida foothills. Founded in 1993 by Adrian Munari.
Immediately evident, this wine has deep confected aromas of boysenberry, blackcurrent and chocolate sauce. The shiraz is doing it’s job to fill out the palate creating a full bodied wine with fresh palate. It is well structured with a fresh acidity on the palate balancing the robust tannins and fruit sweetness. The Cabernet is again highlighted with an earthy flavour and chalky tannins to finish. The Shiraz/Cabernet is traditionally the most robust wine of the range and a fine example of a full bodied Heathcote red.
A more concentrated version of the 2016 release, powerfully so, mining deeper and more expressive flavour components. Game and leather mix with concentrated black fruits and spice. Red berries show up on the palate bringing a brightness. Texture is creamy, oak and tannin looking integrated. Everything is in its place. Drink to: 2032; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: January 2020; Alcohol: 14.6%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
