Maverick Wines was established in 2004. The objective was and is to be one of the top premium boutique wineries in Australia. Although the company is young, Maverick owns 75 acres of vineyards from the top terroirs across the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Approximately half of the vines are over 100 years old, and many much older.
This flatteringly classy wine exhibits dark fruit richness combined with vanillin oak, smoked game, anise and dark cocoa aromas on the nose, followed by staggeringly rich palate that offers excellent depth and dazzling fruit power, brilliantly complemented by plush texture and velvety tannins. Symphonic and hedonistic. At its best: 2022 to 2037.
A blend of two barriques of shiraz and one barrique of cabernet sauvignon. Small open fermenter, matured for 22 months. Delicious wine, harmonious cassis fruit, superfine tannins, balanced and long. Drink to: 2047; Date Tasted: Jan 2020; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
