Behind the 1722 entrance, the Domaines Louis-Claude Desvignes’s Cellars unveil 8 centuries of continuous production of Morgon from estate vineyards, 5 ha of which are in the most celebrated Cru of Cote du Py (including some 100 year old vines in Javernieres), and 8 Ha in Douby. Today brother and sister, Louis-Benoit and Claude, together carry forward the familial traditions of the Domaine.

The 2021 Beaujolais l'Aube à Javernières delivers notes of red berries, plums and burning embers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate that's taut and incisive. It's derived from a parcel of vines planted in the 1940s in the continuation of prime climat Javernières but just outside the AOC of Morgon, situated in a small valley, and while it transcends its lowly appellation, its cooler location shows in its tightly wound profile this year. Drink: 2022 -2033; William Kelley; Rating: 90 Points; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
