Tim Freeland and Domenic Torzi source precious Adelaide Plains old vine survival plantings from the 1950s. Coupled with their non-interventional approach to winemaking, Longhop wines are rich, generous and full of flavour. Crisp lemon, lime, apple and pith. Lovely texture and length fills out the palate. A terrific all-rounder suited to an array of both Asian & Mediterranean inspired seafood, vegetable and white meat dishes.
A little bit wild to smell, in a good way, lemon/lime, a spray of aromatic green herb (including fennel tips), some brine and citrus flower. It's a little saline, a cinch of lemon peel bitterness, green apple and lime, slightly nutty too, with a firm chalky texture, and excellent length. A sour green apple and citrus tang, with plenty of crunch and pithy grip closes it out. Such good mouth-feel and character. Yes. Tasted: November 2023; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $25; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2023-2028+; Rated: 94 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
