Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons.
Good depth of red with a bright tinge of purple, which is good for a four year-old. Aromas of eucalypt forest floor underpinned by ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and cedar—distinctive cabernet flavours and aromas. It's full bodied and fleshy, with abundant tannins that are well harmonised with the rest of its components, and there's a core of sweet fruit that is dried off nicely by the tannins that flood in on the back-palate. A smart cabernet with a bright and lengthy future. Date Tasted: October 2023; Drink: 2024 to 2039; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
