Although Fuddling Cup Cabernet Sauvignon began in 2000 as grafted rootlings in the tuart sandy loam of the Geographe region, today it is the gravelly loam over clay sub-soils of the Wilyabrup region of Margaret River which provides premium fruit as the perfect foundation for our superb Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes deliver a Cabernet Sauvignon that exhibits deep crimson hues, power and balance in the primary fruit, knitted seamlessly to the rich overlay of toasty oak and silken tannins.

Deep vibrant crimson in the glass with a wonderful nose displaying ripe black cherry, cassis, cedar and the subtle vanilla and spicy oak complete an impeccable bouquet. 2018 was a spectacular vintage in the heart of Wilyabrup growing area, delivering the glossy and supple mouthfeel that can be achieved in only the best years. Enjoy now for its youth and enthusiasm but it will develop and drink well for many years.

This was such a good vintage throughout WA and this outstanding cabernet illustrates this perfectly. Captivating aromas of black currant, dark liqueur cherry and light cedar with a trace of bay leaf. The palate has a firm tight core of minerally oyster shell tannins and well weighted oak. This is a classy wine that is just starting to move into its work. Drink: 2023 - 2033; Price: $40.00; Rating: 94 Points; Ray Jordan
