Blue Pyrenees were established through a no expense spared approach, by two of the wine world's most revered, accomplished and resourced estates. A superior standard of viticulture and exacting vinification techniques were the priority, they remain at the very core of the Blue Pyrenees raison d'être. An assemblage of exclusively estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Malbec and Shiraz, artfully crafted into a seamless style of vigorously perfumed fruit, finely polished tannins and fragrant, flattering oak.

The Richardson Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon wines are produced from the most exceptional parcels of fruit as identified by the Blue Pyrenees team; the same philosophy established in the 1990’s to create exceptional wine as a tribute to the late Colin Richardson.

With 4% viognier. The late Colin Richardson was a big-hearted and unfailing supporter of Victorian wines who loved a generous, honest red. Bring a decanter to this wine when it is released. It's tight and focused at this early stage, with so much promise just brimming below the surface. Signature Pyrenees menthol notes are pervasive, but nicely countered by dense, ripe blackberries, raspberries, plums, licorice, chocolate and earth. Tannins are muscular. They'll be needed for the journey ahead. Closure: Diam; Drink to: 2033; Price: $160.00; Date Tasted: February 2022; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Jeni Port; James Halliday Wine Companion
