Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most beautiful vineyards in the Yarra Valley consisting of 28 hectares of vines located at the foot of the Warramate Hills. Established in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus the 1973 vintage saw the production of the first vintage of Dry Red Wines – No’s 1 & 2. This saw Yarra Yering quickly gain an international reputation for quality and individuality.

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Yarra Yering planting of Pinot Noir, containing some of the oldest vines of their type in the Yarra Valley. A mixed planting of 4 clones was undertaken in 1969, then followed up with replication in 1981 (top of the slope) & 1984 (bottom of the slope).

A beautifully balanced and complete wine to either drink now or cellar so it garners more complexity. The former option is hard to beat, revealing plump plums and black cherries, layers of spice and integrated oak. Precision across the palate, raw silk tannins and a freshness to the acidity ensure there's a lingering quality. Drink to: 2031; Date Tasted: Jan 2021; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 96 Points; Jane Faulkner; James Halliday Wine Companion
