The dictionary definition of ‘Riposte’ (pronounced rip-posst) is comeback, reply, retort, or in the context of the sport of fencing a quick counter stroke. After over a decade of confusion about his name ‘Riposte’ was chosen as an appropriate name for a ‘comeback label’ by Tim Knappstein.
The Foil shows vibrancy and depth with elegant passionfruit and floral notes. A long driving palate of intense fruit tapers cleanly to a crisp, finely balanced conclusion.
Sauvignon Blanc is the enduring pop star of Adelaide Hills white wines, its hook well and truly driven by wild and exotic aromas, here in tell all themes of passionfruit, a brush of tomato bush, a waft of boronia and daphne florals - all not shy in coming forward in expressing the variety’s calling-card attractions. The palate follows much the same script in terms of aromatic flavours with a mouth-watering splash of lime juice acidity and fine pithiness. It's refreshing, zesty, and hits the savvy brief with a fair bit of swagger. Price: $24.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 94 Points; Tony Love
A cracking vintage for Savvy in the Hills in 2024. The fruit here is from two high altitude sites and few know the region better. This is surely the Savvy lovers’ Savvy. Near invisible with just the palest hint of lemon, this is fresh, bright and classically varietal. The nose gives us bright herbs, limes, notes of lychees, citrus and some tropical touches, especially passionfruit. Those tropical notes are very much to the fore on the palate. There is bright acidity here, good balance and excellent length. Drink to: 2025-2030; Price: $24.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett
