The name Rameau d'Or means 'Golden Bough' and is based on a fantastical tale of enchantments, transformations and love. This wine is produced by Debussy which has several estates in the Rhone Valley, Provence and other Mediterranean regions. Debussy estates produce wines that express the characters and typicity of each of the French terroir that the vineyards are located, creating wines reflective of the regions and their popular wine styles.
Beautifully pale pink. Delicate notes of strawberry, rose petals and white flowers. Grenache provides the plush, juicy fruit on the palate while the Syrah adds a twist of spice, a touch of acidity and some pretty blue-toned pink to the colour.
A salmon to burnt orange in the glass, the nose sees candied red apple alongside citrus, green herbs and red cherry. The palate has great texture with fruit sweetness contrasted by flowing but well integrated acidity; fruit continues in terms of red cherry with a lemon and pomegranate lift. The finish is long and brings you back for another sip. Excellent value. Drink: 2021-2022; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $25; Closure: Screwcap; Rating: 91 Points; Patrick Eckel; Wine Reviewer
