Hilary Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is a thoroughly modern and elegant Australian Chardonnay that offers a creamy style with subtle flavours and approachable character. The restrained use of oak balances the quintessential Adelaide Hills fruit character.

This is good. First statement. It's very varietal, very textbook, with lots of depth of character, good sense of freshness and energy. Stone fruits, ginger, nougat, vanilla wafer, cinnamon spice, oaky nuance in grainy lines but done well, and a zip of pink grapefruit freshness shot through for good measure. It feels energetic and yet shows richness and judicious winemaking influence in it all. Bargain. Drink to: 2030; Date Tasted: January 2026; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $35.00; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
This is a most sophisticated example of Australian Chardonnay, walking the tight rope of generous fruit flavours of stone fruit, lemon zest and hints of creamy vanilla slice with some hand-braking restraint. There's a reason it knocked off its peers in Shaw + Smith M3, Eileen Hardy and Petaluma (to name just a few) to wine Best SA CHard at Royal Melbourne, and it's not done yet if you can keep your paws off it. I can't. Drink: Now-2030; Quality: Exceptional BW; WineStar© November 2025
