The essence of Mitolo Wines can be traced back centuries through generations of agriculturists and viticulturalists. In 2000, Mitolo made its first Shiraz, and two years later its first Cabernet Sauvignon. Since that time, Mitolo has championed these two varieties with fruit from some of McLaren Vale’s finest vineyards. Whilst building its reputation for premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon offerings, Mitolo expanded its range to include several Italian varieties paying homage to the family’s roots.
Pretty pale pink. Check. Fruitful but delicate. Check. Dry and refreshing. Check. It does all the things and for a very fair price from premium fruit in a premium region. This was tasted early, and it will flex a little, and to its benefit, but the sapid dryness is very engaging, set against pristine notes of tart cherry, strawberry, rose and cranberry. There's an appealing savouriness to this against the exuberance of the 2023. It's very good and exceptional value. Drink to: 2026; Date Tasted: December 2024; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $25.00; Rating: 93 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
