If you like Barolo, you'll like this. It hits all the notes you'd hope for. There's a gentle raspberried sweetness to the fruit upfront, but it quickly gives way to leather, liquorice, sage and roast beef characters, and it finishes with an excellent etching of fine-grained tannin, the latter of which does not come at the expense of flavour, which continues to push on. This wine really hits the spot. It's very good, and the value is high. Tasted: October 2023; Alcohol: 14%; Price: $65.00; Closure: Cork; Drink: 2023-2029+; Rated: 93 Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
Good Barolo, and this is certainly a fine example, is a thing of beauty. This is cracking value as well. From the commune of Castiglione Falletto and a top notch vintage. This is a stunning vintage in this region and this wine shows exactly that. We have notes of florals, warm earth, hints of cinchona bark and tobacco leaves – think a really good Cohiba. A creamy texture, there is an appealing savouriness here. Good balance and focus with a lingering finish. Good acidity runs the length. Enjoy over the next ten to twelve years. The recommendation is to match this with mushroom risotto. Hard to think of anything more perfect. Drink: 2024 - 2036; Price: $65.00; Rating: 94 Points; Kan Gargett
