Just in case the proprietary bottle, embossed logo, familiar label and variety wasn't a dead giveaway, this does indeed emanate from the Schenk stable that has brought us out best selling import of the last few years, Masso Antico Primitivo.
Galadino is their other famous Primitivo, a global hit in fact, that we have brought to Australian shores for the first time. And shock, horror, it comes adorned with a cool 98 Points from Italian wine guru Luca Maroni.
This is also made using the Appassimento method, an ancient Italian tradition of naturally drying the bunches with the resultant raisined grapes producing a greater concentration of flavours and a rich, ripe and luscious wine exuding ripe dark blackberry, brighter blueberry as well as hints of licorice and cherry. This is a classic rendition of Salento Primitivo and the 2020 was in May this year, rated 98 Points by Luca Maroni; Annuario Dei Migliori Vini Italiani 2021 (Best Italian Wines Annual).
