The JC’s Own label is the personal project of Massena winemaker Jaysen Collins with the labels inspired by street art he sees in his travels.

Morialta is the parish, the wine a fairly worked, but judiciously so, chardonnay of the Adelaide Hills. It’s a fuller flavoured chardonnay but in that mostly about about savouriness over ripe fruit character, indeed a vein of tingly, saline acidity is at the core and zippy green apple comes into the mix nicely. Scents and flavours revolve around warmed almonds, light toastiness and oatmeal characters, and the more I sat with the wine the more I dug in. It’s great. It’s flavourtown, it’s compelling, it does a great job of delivering us a bigger flex of chardonnay’s potential. In all that, a comely white wine of character and ease of drinking. Step up. Tasted: Aug 2022; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $38; Closure: Cork; Drink: 2022-2026; Rated: 94 Points; Mike Bennie; The Wine Front
