Demonstrating willingness and boldness, Octave Haton founded the Champagne House in 1920. His son René succeeded him and purchased some additional vineyards. Today, the Haton family is part of the top 30 producers of Champagne in volume.
Light-mid straw-yellow colour; very nutty bouquet shows some aldehydes, with an almond-meal, toasted-nut and almost marzipan note, the aldehydes lending some sherry-like character. Barrel fermentation suspected. The palate is rich and powerful with terrific concentration. A rich and multi-layered wine with a very persistent finish and cleansing, appetising dryness that begs another sip. Voluminous flavour. An outstanding Champagne and a discovery for me.
