Produced by the famed Sartori winery near Venice, Fontavera are fresh and vibrant wines with an emphasis on organic viticulture. The wines are grown on higher, cooler sites but reflect a desire by winemaker Andrea Sartori to be more thoughtful about the environment and the looming effect of climate change upon vineyards.
Fermentation for this most authentic Pinot Grigio is all in stainless steel, to retain freshness. The grapes were sourced from the more elevated sites which are cooler. A deep yellow, even tinged with bronze colour, which is typical of the variety. The nose is bright, clean, fresh and lifted with notes of spices, pears and lemons but the highlight must be the attractive textural aspects and a lingering finish. Like this a lot, and best to drink now for three to four years. Again, great to see these wines bottled under screwcap.
