Three legends are involved in the Domaine Epis and Epis and Williams wines, two of them in their own lifetime. They are long-term Essendon guru and former player Alec Epis, who owns the two quite separate vineyards and brands; Stuart Anderson, who directs winemaking, with Alec doing all the hard work; and the late Laurie Williams, the father of viticulture in the Macedon region and the man who established the Flynn and Williams vineyard in 1976. Alec Epis purchased that vineyard from Laurie Williams in '99, and as a mark of respect (and with Laurie's approval) continued to use his name, in conjunction with his own.

This is a beautifully fragrant wine. Aromas of rose, brown spice, red cherry and cranberry lift from the glass. There is a Pinot prettiness intertwining with the earth of the site and the cool of the season. The palate is supple and silky smooth with a creamy texture. The finish builds with fine tannin that lingers harmoniously for a long finish. This pure, charming wine will improve for five years and live well beyond.
