The new faces behind the Curtis Family Vineyards are Mark, Thomas & Jenna Curtis, with the guidance of their father, Claudio Curtis who lives on the vineyard just outside McLaren Vale. The name Curtis is thought to derive from Curtius, a noble and wealthy family of the First and Second Centuries AD, the Roman Empire era originating from the Latinium people.
This Small Batch Grenache Shiraz is the perfect blend creating a medium to full-bodied plush palate. Displaying bright & vibrant red fruit characters with hints of spice. The Grenache fruit was selectively handpicked from 120-year-old bush vines.
What a plush, generous, yet poised and refined Grenache Shiraz this is. The high-end florals and red fruit notes of the Grenache sit comfortably over the richer plummy and slightly earthy notes of the Shiraz. It was a good season in McLaren Vale, and it’s been captured quite beautifully with this smooth and elegant wine. Floral, earthy notes on the nose with some nice red berry lift, a little rose petal, and then a supple, generous, and thoroughly scrumptious palate, delivering plush ripe fruits held with a fine minerally acidity, a little spice and dried herb, and plenty of panache that expresses the style. Drink to: 2026-2038; Price: $80.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan
