Cowpunk are small batch wines made from single sites, crafted by award winning winemaker Aaron Mercer. Organic, vegan, preservative free, and with no additions these are wines of real interest and great drinkability. 

Sourced from established vineyards in cool climate, high-altitude Tumbarumba, NSW. Wild Fermented in 800L Amphora clay pots on full solids with no additions. Matured on solids in Amphora for 6months prior to bottling. Made using natural philosophies and with no additions. Vegan friendly, unfined and unfiltered.

Fresh and pure with green mango and white peach fruit overlaid by notes of sea salt, riverstone and aniseed. The maturation in Clay Amphora is evident in the excellent chalky texture and the complex but fruit driven palate. Flavours of lime, nectarine and pink grapefruit are given tension and profile by a fine mineral acid backbone.

Vineyards are not specified but the wine is certified organic. Wild fermentation in 800L amphorae on full solids for six months. A fancy, heavy bottle is secured by a swing top, just like Grolsch beer, and while this is super-fresh, I wouldn’t be cellaring it for any great length of time. It’s a really good drink: racy, vibrant with lemon barley water and grapefruit to the fore yet made more complex by the fluffy lees flavour – all creamy, nutty and nice, but not too much. It’s super-tight across the palate, all moreish and savoury. Drink now, have fun and reuse the bottle.
