Briar Ridge Vineyard is located in Mount View, a little slice of winemaking paradise reminiscent of the wine growing regions of France. The terroir, the microclimate and the views are unique to the rest of the Hunter, set us apart and make visiting here something unique and special.

This modern blend is inspired by the wines of the old world and is a rich full bodied expression of black and blue fruits, cedary oak and fine supple tannin. Approachable young, however, this will reward careful cellaring.

A nicely composed, youthful blend with an impressively even flow of flavour and excellent fruit density. Beautifully fragrant, with pure aromas of blackcurrant and freshly crushed leaves, creating an aura of freshness and class. The palate is supported by a cradle of papery tannins and has all the right proportions for successful ageing. Drink to: 2033; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $40.00; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

This is almost as if you were perched above a foragers basket of berries and herbs. Blackberry, blueberries and Davidson plums. Some basil, rosemary and tuberose. Black soil, clove and gravelly stones. Clove and cassia bark compliment the intensity of fruit with slinky lines of acidity and firm tannins. This has the ability to age for a decade or so, becoming all the more ethereal and sexy. Drink to: 2026-2035; Price: $40.00; Rating: 95 Points; Shanteh Wale
