The winegrowing farm Piero Benevelli, situated in Monforte d’Alba in the heart of the Barolo Langa, is composed by around 8 hectares of vineyards, from which approximately 40.000 bottles of wine are produced. This quantity allows us to maintain a family management of the Company, from the work in the estates to the winery. The estate is a committed to preserve the traditions and not abandon the teachings of those who came before them, at the same time supplement this knowledge with the use of modern technologies.
Proper Nebbiolo. Screwcap. Under $35. That’s a lot of boxes ticked, for sure. Sweet dark cherries, aniseed, dried flowers and some exotic spice. It’s fleshy and succulent, plenty of flavour, tannin is ripe and powdery, has something of a ‘mineral’ feel to it, along with black tea, and the finish is long with dried sage and a mix of ripe black and red fruits. Flavoursome. Easy to enjoy. It’s a very strong release. Tasted: July 2021; Alcohol: 14%; Price: $32; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2021-2027+; Rated: 92+ Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
