Ever since the 2015 vintage won the International Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the  Decanter Wine Awards more than a year ago, Vidal has been our number one selling NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Not a bad effort for a noted premium label competing in a market full of no name swill. 

No sooner had the 2015 dried up than the 2016 was released and met with equal adulation on the home front winning a Gold Medal at the NZ New World Wine Awards - an important competition featurng over 1300 commercially available wines under $25.

The two major NZ wine magazines then rated it, Winestate calling it a "great value blend of Wairau Valley (60%) and Awatere Valley (40%) fruit. Fresh, crisp and sweet-fruited, with dry, tropical fruit flavours that linger well."

And finally, the Godfather of NZ wine, Bob Campbell MW told us what we wanted to hear; "Soft, flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc, with a mix of integrated fruit and savoury flavours that include lemongrass, capsicum, fresh herbs and passionfruit. A suggestion of sweetness is balanced by fruity acidity. A 'crowd pleasing' Sauvignon."

This ticks all the boxes in both a stylistic sense and a huge chunk off retail!
