The Mills Family have been custodians, farming this land for generations. In 1975 they began experimenting with some plantings of table grapes and in 1982 they planted their first block with the express interest of producing high quality wines. They released their first commercial vintage in 1989 and continue to farm the land 30 years later.

Tension, precision, energy, length. Coiled and pent up, a wine of inward concentration, great velocity, a mesh of dark cherry fruit, spice, garrigue-like characters and smoky-mineral notes. Whoosh. Incredible. One of those wines you peg down to phrases like ‘power and grace’ though that hardly does it justice. This has the torsion and tannin profile of greatest wines in world, a sheath and length of epic nature. And delicious – fragrant, fruit pure yet complex, and all up a wonderful experience. Date: Nov 2021; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $149; Closure: Diam; Drink: 2025-2040; Rated: 97 Points; Mike Bennie; The Wine Front

Aromas of cherries, dried strawberries, fresh flowers and orange peel. Yet, the nose remains subtle and complex. Medium to full body with firm, tight and linear tannins that are chewy and very fine-grained. Goes on for a very long time. From biodynamically grown grapes. Give this three or four years to soften. Try after 2023. Date: Nov 2021; Rating: 96 Points; James Suckling
