Yarra Valley pioneers, the de Pury family are renowned for wines of finesse and elegance that epitomise the finest the region can produce. Produced from some of the oldest vines in the valley, these are long-lived wines made in tiny quantities. Yeringberg makes wines from the low-yielding vines re-established on the heart of what was one of the most famous vineyards of the nineteenth century.
A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. It may not be the most long-lived Yeringberg ever, but it will provide an enormous amount of enjoyment over the next 10–15 years. Date: Feb 2025; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $115.00; Drink by: 2040; Rating: 97 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
Soft and savory aromas of blackcurrants, licorice, Asian spices, dark cherries and violets. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely tuned tannins and focused acidity that lead to a bright and plush mouthfeel. A soft, bright wine from a cool vintage that is constructed with a soft hand. Drink or hold. Screw cap. Date: Mar 2025; Rating: 96 Points; James Suckling
