45% touriga nacional, 28% tinta cao, 9% tinta roriz, 7% tinta amarela, 7% avarelhao, 4% sousao hand-picked and destemmed and fermented together in a small fermenter, foot-stomped in traditional Portuguese lagar fashion, matured in old oak for 10 months. Establishment of this vineyard on its rocky, terraced hillsides was a labour of love, wild deer regarding it as their spring vegetable garden. You have to wait for this blend to work its magic, for it is a wine of quite remarkable finesse and aromatic qualities. Its length, too, is beyond the ordinary. (Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Alvarelhao, Sousao) Deep, youthful purple colour with a fragrant, lifted, high-toned aroma led by fruit. Blackberry and a touch of spice. It's medium-bodied and soft textured, very fresh and young but also very approachable. Lovely balance. A delicious wine. Drink: 2017 to 2036; Price: $105.00; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
